SURGERY TIME...

Nothing like a little bit of surgery...Chris finally decided to go under the knife. After some serious thought - he decided he should do something about his deviated septum. Sugery day was very long. It all took place on October 1st at Dixie Regional Medical Center. His surgery appointment was at 2:00p.m. They called us at noon and said they were two hours behind and his new appointment time was 4:00. We really appreciated the call. Well, 4:00 rolled around and my mom took the kids to her house and Chris and I headed for the Hospital. After check in, we sat in the prep room for 4 1/2 hours...let's just say it was HARD! Chris hadn't eaten since dinner the night before...can you say absolutely starving! He ended up going 26 hours with no food or drink! Finally the surgery time came. It was quick- about 45 minutes to one hour. Dr. Gardner came out and told me he did great and all was well! ...Now the really hard part - RECOVERY! The nose is a painful thing and he was instructed not to really touch it, blow it or sneeze - all of those things could ruin his surgery. Another hard part was keeping the kids away from his face and keeping Chris from turning his head or picking anything up with any weight and causing his nose to bleed. Chris did say he has never had anything ever be so painful - it was pretty bad! However, Chris enjoyed his down time to the best of his abilities. I made at least one to two trips a day to the Red Box - He and Nate really enjoyed watching movies in bed together and Nate SUPER enjoyed his dad being home for a few days. Although Chris was down, we all still loved our family time together. Chris is still healing and doing well. He is back on his feet and can actually breathe out of both nostrils! Thanks Dr. Gardner! Way to go Chris!
